Girls weekend in Vail

My fabulous mother decided that my sister-in-law, Poppi, and I needed some time off. So she took us to Vail, Colorado for a few days this last June. It was so much fun! The weather was cool and rainy, and the mountains were breathtaking. We got massages, and went shopping. We got to ride horses one day. My horse's name was Chief. Poppi's horse was Chubb, and he ate everything he could see. I loved riding in the mountains, seeing all the beautiful flowers and enjoying the cool, fresh air.

The village of Vail is a wonderfully quaint tourist attraction. There were more shops and restaurants than we could even begin to explore. I especially liked the bronze statues everywhere, particularly the one of Einstein. :)

We missed our families, but it was such a fun, relaxing treat to get away for a few days. Thanks Mom!

Shower curtains weren't designed to hold people.

Paul will be eight in just under a month. He is turning into a very fine young man, very mature and helpful. Sometimes I forget that he is still a little boy, and it's nice to have an occasional reminder. A few nights ago we had put all the kids to bed, and Reed and I were relaxing in the living room when we hear a tremendous crash from the direction of the bathroom. I got there first, and found Paul in a state of shock saying over and over again "I fell, I fell, I fell." I got him calmed down enough to tell me where he was hurt (a small bump on the back of his head, and a banged up knee), then tried to figure out what the heck happened. Of course, the shower curtain and rod lying in the bathtub provided a pretty obvious clue. Turns out he was holding onto the shower curtain and walking his feet up the wall. I never thought to tell him that shower curtains aren't designed to hold people. Makes me wonder what else we've neglected to mention to the kid.
